Below, and in the next two pages, you will find thumbnails for photographs of watermarks which were found in the antique book collection of Larry D. Smith. Click on the thumbnail and it will open the photograph in its full size.

   Please note that these images do not necessarily show the complete watermark. When paper was all made by hand, the paper mold was generally no larger than 15" by 17" and the watermark was placed usually one image per sheet. As the printer cut the paper sheets to produce books of folio, quarto or octavo sizes, the watermark was often cut through. Parts of the single image might appear on different pages.
