Fruit or Paring Table     {early 1900s}

     This small table has a very small drawer. The drawer was used to hold just a couple knives, including a small, sharp edged one called a paring knife. At roughly two feet wide and three feet long, this table was not one that could accomodate many people sitting around it. The purpose of the table was to provide a convenient extra surface for preparing foods, such as peeling (paring) and cutting fruit and vegetables.
