Sewing Items

     Various items used for sewing were carried by soldiers during the American Revolutionary War. They had to be able to mend their clothes somehow, and so they carried straight pins for that purpose. If a soldier had a needle, such as the large one shown in the center of the image above, and some thread and perhaps a thimble he could sew the coarse, heavy material of which his clothes or blanket were made.
