Michael Muirhead was born circa 1828 in Lanarkshire, Scotland.(3.11) That much we know about him, but we have not yet been able to link him to any particular family line. Michael married Sarah Auld on 30 April, 1841 at Presbyterian, Killinchy, County Down, Ireland. Sarah was born in 1819 in County Down. The couple took up residence in Glasgow, where they raised a family of two sons: William A., born 1842; and Thomas, born 25 December, 1845. Michael died in the year 1873 at Milton, in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Sarah died in 1893 at Milton.

  William A. Muirhead, son of Michael and Sarah Muirhead, was born in the year 1842. The “A” initial for his middle name, most likely, stood for the name “Auld”, his mother’s maiden surname. William married Agnes Boyd on 17 July, 1874. Agnes was a daughter of James Boyd and Rebecca Donaldson Gibb. Agnes was born in 1851. William and Agnes gave birth to: William, born 1877; Agnes, born 1878; John T., born 1883; Alexander Boyd, born 08 March, 1886; Mary, born 1894; and Janet Boyd. (The Muirhead Clan Society database gives Mary’s birthdate as 1893.) Agnes died on 09 April, 1914 at Lincoln, Rhode Island.

  William Muirhead, son of William A., and Agnes Muirhead, married Agnes McGovern. She was a daughter of John McGovern and Margaret Ferns. Agnes was born in the year 1876 at Barterhold, Paisley, Scotland. William and Agnes emigrated from Scotland at some time prior to 1897, and found a new home in the United States. They gave birth to ten children, one of which was claimed to have been born in Glasgow, Scotland and the rest in America.   Agnes Muirhead, daughter of William A., and Agnes Muirhead, married James A. Hall. He was born in the year 1879. The family immigrated to America at some time prior to 1915. James and Agnes gave birth to three children, one of which was born in Scotland and the other two in America. The family’s history will be continued in the section titled Agnes Hall Of Connecticut.

  Alexander Boyd Muirhead, son of William A., and Agnes Muirhead, married Ellen ----- on 06 June, 1925 at Manchester, Connecticut. Ellen had been born on 16 March, 1898 at Manchester, and met Alexander after he emigrated from Scotland. The couple are not known to have given birth to any children.

    Janet Boyd Muirhead, daughter of William A., and Agnes Muirhead, married ----- Naughton. They gave birth to a daughter: Irene, who married a man by the name of Caldwell.

  Thomas Muirhead, son of Michael and Sarah Muirhead, married Jane Bell McLaren on 08 December, 1865 at Glasgow. Jane was born on 05 December, 1843, a daughter of James McLaren and Elizabeth Bell. The couple gave birth to: Sarah Auld, born 05 March, 1866 and died 09 October, 1939; Elizabeth Bell, born 03 March, 1868 and died 13 July, 1920; William, born 29 November, 1869; Jeanie, born 1871; Thomas, born 09 August, 1875 and died 30 October, 1949; Flora, born 02 July, 1877 and died 26 June, 1957; Mary, born May, 1879 and died 1936; John McCallum, born 21 December, 1882 and died 08 November, 1956; Archibald Bell, born 02 January, 1884 and died 30 January, 1958; Andrew Laidlaw, born 12 February, 1886; and James Watson, born 28 May, 1888. The first three children were born at Milton, in Glasgow, Scotland. The next three were born at Newcastle, in Northumberland, England. The remainder were born at Glasgow. At some time after 1888, Thomas and Jane emigrated from Scotland to take up residence at Pawtucket, near Providence, Rhode Island. Their son, John McCallum, perhaps accompanied them, because of all the children, he alone was residing in America, at Providence, when he died. Thomas died on 18 February, 1900 at Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Jane died on 28 March, 1931 at Pawtucket.

  Andrew Laidlaw Muirhead, son of Thomas and Jane Muirhead, married Elthel Clegg on 05 March, 1913. Elthel was born circa 1890 at Kelvin, in Glasgow. Andrew died on 21 December, 1925.
