The purpose of this document is to provide an overview of the phenomenom known as the watermark. Until recently, when my job was downsized, I worked for a paper manufacturer as the watermark designer. In these pages you will be able to read a history of watermarks, view a gallery of watermark images from antique books and other documents from my personal collection, and see how watermarked paper is produced.
