Five~Gallon Crock Jug

Pottery containers were commonly called crockery. The open containers were simply called crocks, while the closed containers, such as this one, were called crock jugs.
This particular jug dates from the early 1900s. The numeral "5" on its side notes that it will hold five gallons of liquid. It is twenty-one inches tall and eleven inches in diameter.
