Rolling Pin     Exhibit 1

This is an example of a rolling pin carved from a single piece of wood, no doubt cherry. Rollings pins were used to roll balls of pie dough into flat sheets, which could then be used to line pie plates. They also were used to roll balls of cookie dough into flat sheets from which interesting shapes could be cut to make cookies. This rolling pin is slightly larger than others in my collection. It is 18-1/2" in length and 2-1/2" in diameter.
