| This is another example of a hatchel. In many cases, if not most, the hatchel was made by the men in the family that was going to be using it. That explains the varied shapes of some and the types and number of nails that were used. This example is unique in that there are very few nails in the one end of a long board that is punctuated by two rows of five holes. Why it was constructed this way is anyone's guess. |
