THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE

May 1734
{Width: 5"; Height: 8-3/16"; Thickness: 1/8"}

     The complete title for this book is: THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, Or, Monthly Intelligencer.
      This booklet was published at London by Edward Cave (aka Sylvanus Urban); and like the copies of the Annual Register included in this collection, were sometimes bound together into a full 'year' book. The Gentleman's Magazine was published continuously from 1731 to 1907. The word magazine was first employed by this publication because it referred to a 'storehouse' of knowledge and information. The illustration of St. John's Gate on the cover of each monthly issue was used to represent the editor, Cave's, home which served as his office.
