Indocti discant, & amens meminisse periti. The title can be translated as: New Abbreviated Chronology Of The History Of France. The book's author, Charles Jean Francois Henault, was born in 1685 and died in 1770. The book has been claimed by some scholars as having been co-authored by Pierre Jean Boudot (1689-1771).
This two volume set was printed at Paris, De l'imprimerie de prault. The volumes have both been rebound in recent years.

The book was dedicated to Maria Leszczynska (variously, Marie Leczinska), the wife of Louis XV.

This two-volume set was rebound; the new leather covers are unmistakable. One of the end-pages was salvaged and bound into the second volume. It is a good example of marbeling, at which the French were so adept.
