     The complete title to this work is: THE IDYLLIUMS OF THEOCRITUS WITH RAPIN'S DISCOURSE OF PASTORALS Done into English. This book was published at Oxford, and was printed by L. Lichfield, Printer to the University, for Anthony Stephens Bookseller near the Theatre.
      The book was Done into English by Thomas Creech. It was the first Engllish translation of Theocritus' Idylls. Rene Rapin, the author of the discourse of pastoral poems which is included in this volume, lived between 1621 and 1687. Thomas Creech (variously, Greech), who translated this volume into English, lived from 1659 to 1700.
