INNOCENCY CLEARED

Martin Mason, 18 December 1660
{Width: 5-1/2"; Height: 6-3/4"; Thickness: 4-sheets}

     The entire title of this book is as follows: INNOCENCY CLEARED; THE LIBERTIES AND PRIVILEDGES OF GODS PEOPLE FOR ASSEMBLING TOGETHER IN HIS FEAR TO WAIT UPON HIM, VERY CALMLY EXPOSTULATED; AND THEIR REFUSAL OF ALL OATHS, IN MEEKNESS VINDICATED.
     This eight-page pamphlet was written by Martin Mason, a prisoner at the City-Prison at Lincoln, England. He had been imprisoned solely for advocating Quakerism. While in prison, some individuals, such as Mason, could have pen and paper brought to them, and they could continue to write and publish their books or pamphlets.
