The Rooms We Lost
      ~ The Borning Room

   This room started out primarily as a room in which a woman could give birth. It was located just off the kitchen, so that heated water could easily be carried to it. It often was equipped with a bed, and therefore it might easily be converted into an invalid room. When it was not used as either a room in which to give birth or to house an elderly or incapacitated member of the family, the borning room would be used by the family as a room in which to take baths on Saturday nights.
