The Holidays Celebrated In Colonial America

Corpus Christi Day

{ The Thursday after Trinity Sunday, which is one week after Whitsuntide Or 60 days after Easter }

  The feast of Corpus Christi was a Christian holiday. The name is Latin for Body of Christ.

  The holiday does not commemorate any single event, but rather celebrates the body of Christ as consecrated in the Mass.

  During ages past, and in the Colonial Period, Corpus Christi Day was a day devoted to the performance of pageants and mystery (or miracle) plays.
