SOLUTION

The second process of Solution consists of the cleansing of the ash left by Calcination.

To the alchemist, the process of Solution involves reducing the ash (left by the previous process) to a watery state by dissolving the calcined powder in Mercury in order to cleanse it of any impurities not removed by the fires of Calcination.

This Mercury is not ordinary, chemical mercury. Instead, it is the liquid condensed from the vapor given off via Calcination. It is the pneuma, or spirit, of the primary matter.
